Scheme complete with opening of toilets at Cowdenbeath library
17 MarchAfter the closure of the old Pit Rood toilets, these have now been sold at a profit, which will see the building put to a good use within the community.
Pit Road toilets had been costing the council £45,000 a year, which would have increased year on year. An estimate of £70,000 had been given to reopen these toilets, equivalent to over £4 per person that used the toilets and a cost of 30p to the public.
New signage has also now been put up, directing people to the new toilets.
The Cowdenbeath Cllr Alex Bain added: "The Fife Council Comfort Scheme now has four facilities on or just off Cowdenbeath High street, which the public can use free of charge.
"These facilities are Cowdenbeath Library, at the North end of the high street the Leisure Centre and The Galley cafe in the centre of the high street, the Old Cross Guns on Bridge street just of the south end of the high street."
