New cash to improve Cowdenbeath woodlands
27 AugustCowdenbeath woodlands are set to be improved thanks to a new grant of £170,000 being awarded from the Forestry Commission Scotland's Woodlands In and Around Towns (WIAT) Challenge Funding.
The funding award for Cowdenbeath Woodlands will go towards thinning and new planting, path and fencing works and interpretation.
The grant is part of new money being awarded to Cowdenbeath, Bowhill and Valleyfield Woodland Parks.
Valleyfield woodlands hich has been described as one of Fife's hidden gems, has been awarded around £135,000 which will go towards restoring and repairing historic features thinning and new planting, path and bridge works, and interpretation to ensure it continues to be an important community recreation facility and tourist attraction.
