Man killed in head-on crash outside Cowdenbeath gas plant
5 JanuaryA tragic road accident just outside Cowdenbeath near the Mossmorran gas plant has seen a man killed in a head-on collision, police have said.
The driver died at the scene of the incident on the A909, about 150m from the Mossmorran gas plant gates on the outskirts of Cowdenbeath, at 7.15am on Thursday 5th January.
The female driver of the other car was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline but is not thought to be injured.
The road will be closed for most of the day while accident investigators work at the scene - it is thought black ice may have led to the crash.
UPDATE: The driver of a car who killed in the accident has been named as Andrew Dobie, 64, of Kirkcaldy.
Mr Dobie had been driving to work at the complex when his car was involved in a collision with a car being driven in the opposite direction.
His family said: “Andrew leaves behind wife Christine, children Kevin and Karen and two grandsons, and will be sadly missed.”
