I am looking for information about the Original Gray Park, Cowdenbeath, when it was built, the people who lived there, the houses also what year was it demolished
Old Gray Park was situated about 1 mile south of Cowdenbeath on the road to Burntisland. My Uncle Johnny Drysdale and Aunt Gemina (we called her Auntie Mimie) lived there with their children John, George and Margaret. Later the children married and lived there also.
There were also a family called RAY (surname) who lived there. Of course there were several other families who lived in Old Gray Park.
I can remember a little shop close to the main road beside the bus stop (think there was a playpark/football field behind the shop) which had a large metal advertising sign on a side wall for either Craven A or Players cigarettes.
I cannot say when it was built but think it must have been at least 30 years ago it was demolished.
that wee shop was owned and run by the misses McArthurs
I lived in gray parkat number 28 gray park

Afternoon Carol
From the general style of the old Gray Park houses, they were probably built in the 1920s; and were very similar to those at the top of Stenhouse Street, George Street etc, built in the middle Twenties.
The Mossmoran Gas Plant was being erected but not working, as far as I recollect, before the new Gray Park was built, off Perth Road, then the old Gray Park houses were demolished. That would be around 1984-85. I drove past that area most days from 1968 to 1999.
I tried checking on old-maps.co.uk, finding that there had been an earlier street on the same location - Landale Terrace, with houses on the south/Beverkae side only, dirst appearing on the 1896 map. There was another section to this Landale Terrace on the west/(Crossgates) side of the "main" road.
Bearing in mind the time that maps take to be updated, LT still appeared on the 1938 Map, old Gray Park replacing it on the 1959 map on that Web Site.
I have not tried searching further at present; and suggest that you contact the Reference Section of Dunfermline Library.

Gray Park of course was once south of the town in Auchtertool parish but is now in town at the north end! It was first created in 1928 to rehouse the inhabitants of the condemned houses in Landale Terrace south of the town and named after a Fife Councillor Mr Gray.

I have done a general Search for-
"Landale Terrace" Cowdenbeath
The earliest mention is in a series of Housing Reports, "Glasgow Herald", 1875, which contains-
"In Landale Terrace, where the houses are old and rent ..."
The latest mention is in "The Times" (Cowdenbeath Times?), 16th November 1927, reporting two persons receiving Awards for Bravery, one being Michael Clark of Landale Terrace.
I suspect that Landale Terrace may have been built at about the time of the Little Raith Colliery, not checked that yet - but at present it looks as though LT existed from about 1860 to the late 1920s, followed by old Gray Park from the latter to about 1985. So each existed for about sixty years.
I picked up two family names, Hatton and Waugh.
Additionally, there are four WW1 Deaths extracted from the CWGC site, given on the Auchtertool Parish Church site, all giving Landale Terrace.

Another little snippet-
Apparently the Little Raith Colliery (complex) started about 1852.
Do a general Search for-
"little Raith" Colliery
Landale from Mr Landale, a partner in the Lochgelly Iron Company.
Also Landale Street, Lochgelly.

To find the names of most families and individuals who lived in Landale Terrace and old Gray Park, you should go to the Scotland's People site, checking in the various Censuses available on that site, 1841 to 1911 inclusive-

Hi Tracy,
I grew up in Gray Park and lived there from 1972 - 1981, just before the place was demolished. My Mum and Dad Jane & Allan Braid, Uncle Dave Braid and cousin Allan Braid, and my Gran and Grandad Kate & Andrew Braid, all lived there. I remember the Drysdales, Hendersons, and the family that owned the farm at the end, Cruickshanks. Great years and great memories.
Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
