3. Gronbachs the butchers on High St by the railway bridge. Champions for haggis

5. At the bus depot on Broad St.

7. Wee Jimmies was bar at the Fountain!

9. War memorial is on the high ground by the public park with view down the High St.

10 Stotts was hardware/general store on High St very near the junction with Stenhouse St. 

15. I think 4 counters in Woolies

16. Where Thistle Industrial Estate now is at the end of Church St.

18. Alice, Number 7, Kirkford pits and many many more that closed at different times over the last 100 years.

20. On Broad St where the Stagecoach bus depot is now.

21. I think 2...one at the railway bridge another near the Town Hall.

23. Kirk of Beath ...or Beath Kirk is on the right hand side of Old Perth Road as you rise the hill going o'er to Kelty.

24. In the 1950's Mr Eady (Rector) Mr Trann, Mr McLeod, Mrs Watson, Mr Watson, Mr McNaughton, Mr Clark, Mr Parker, Mr Summers....and more!

25. At the fork in the roads leading from Crossgates towards Hill o' beath and Woodend on what are now the B981 and B917.

Awfie lang time since I grew up in Cowdenbeath ..so answer to 22 for me is 'Double glazing?'

ye did nae bad ,wee jimmys pub was straight across from alley into palais,, will see what response there is afore I give all answers. I loved the meat rissoles at Gronbachs used to buy two and eat at Kelty bus stop just under rail bridge, as for bus stops , one accross from Church street that was where they turned to return to Kelty, then stopped at just at Fountain and next was under rail bridge and next outside Pet shop accross from picture house, next was at Junction accross from cafe,then last yin accross frae Mitchels Garage,,Where your photo of main post office remember dole was above there.

25 White Elephant as described - but opened originally as the "White House", referred to locally as being "a bit of a white elephant" so name changed to that.

About two years before final closure and demolition, it reverted back to White House, aftee a majore renovation.

Winskis was(is) on the High St at the level crossing on the West side  by what was The Supporters club (Partners).   It’s a Jewellers

Gronbach’s was a bit north of the level crossing west side. It was a butchers.

At the top (North) end across the road from the GPO. (junction of High St and Polworth Pl)   It is a pub.

Stott’s was on two sides of the High St just below the fish shop By Fowlis’s  on one side and by the Bookies on the other.  It was a General merchants it had a good Christnas club for kids toys.

Just up from (North of) the Coop restaurant (across from Kelty (railway bridge) bus stop) in the High St.

It was on the East (Up) Platform (towards Dunfermline).

It was on the main road as you came into Cowdenbeath from Kelty. It was a garage

It depends which side of the High St you walk down. On the East pavement Nil going to Kelty. On the West pavement there were 4  One at the Fountain, One by the Railway bridge (the bridge gave it a bit of shelter from the rain), One by the pet shop (Capaldi’s café), One at the public park entrance  by the Junction Bar  (across from Ice cream cafe)
