Cowdenbeath environmental group Newsletter ( february ) The group have just started tasks for 2012. Before winter set in we were out on high street planting daffodil bulbs in all of the planters.Last month the group converged on the Millenium Garden and did a whole lot of pruning and cutting back of all the bushes and trees. We also paid a visit to the Community Woodland and put up more bird boxes. The bird boxes were made by local youngsters and will be a welcome addition to the woodlands area.On a sour note however we still have to spend a lot of time litter picking these areas as well. If people could just have a wee bit more respect for these areas we would have much nicer countryside. So spare a thought for all the volunteers who often give up their spare time to assist the group,Please take your rubbish home or drop it in the bins.
Newsletter for June cowdenbeath environmental group will spend the next few weeks doing the finishing touches for town judging day. last weekend along with a few volunteers the group embarked on a makeover up at c/beath community woodland. the group then advanced to perth road where there was also a srpuce up. along at the end of bridge street there was the usual cut and strim. earlier on in the month the group also planted out the tubs on high street and also assisted with the putting up of the hanging baskets. all these areas will receive a final makeover prior to judging day. Town judging day is on Monday 23 rd of july. anyone interested in helping out in the lead up to judging day would be most appreciated. give us a call on c/beath 01383 515408 unfortunately due to dwindling numbers the group have struggled to cope this year. having said that just have a stroll up to c/beath comm woodland ,dalbeath marsh or the millenium garden and have a look. these areas are all looking terrific at this particular time. plenty to see and plenty to do. ideal for youth and school groups or just for a walk. also planned in the next few weeks is some painting up the woodland and some litter picking. next time you are out for a drive or walk just pop along to any of these places . it actually never fails to amaze the group when people admit that they didn,t even know that these places existed on our door step. again if you are interested at all lets all make a wee bit of effort to help spruce up your town. remember your town is only an extension of your garden.
beautiful fife judging day came aand went last monday afternoon. we had the same judges as last year. unfortunately the weather was not kind to the town at all, it drizzled then it rained for the whole visit. the route was similar to the route of last year but we added a few surprises. judges were most impressed with the community woodland ,dalbeath marsh the millenium garden and the fact that the rotary club planted out tubs up at the railway station. two other points of note were a visit to central park home of the mighty blue brazil and they were also impressed by the on going work of the youth forum of cowdenbeath., who incidently did a community clean up at morrisons car park along to selkirk avenue. c.e.group would just like to thank all who made it possible having cowdenbeath looking so lovely on a very dreich day.
Sorry for the delay. Having problems with my PC.
